86 jobs are facing the axe through the merger
24/04/2013 08:40
The Herald reported (Wednesday 23 March) that 86 jobs are facing the axe through the merger between John Wheatley, North Glasgow and Stow! (article)
However, the current merger process between Anniesland, Cardonald and Langside [to create Clyde College] has, according to one union rep, produced a total of 123 - one hundred and twenty three - positions going through the merger under ‘voluntary’ severance; 38 at Anniesland College, 47 at Langside College and 38 at Cardonald College with everyone who applied being accepted while the “VS [Voluntary Severance] is still unofficially open.” So there could be more!
This is over two hundred jobs lost in Glasgow Further Education… as one former FE Lecturer stated “that is a whole College staffing”.
How can they [College Boards and Senior Managers] support the quality and range of provision in a local context?
