EIS Workload App

09/10/2014 00:00

We note from the EIS October eBulletin that an EIS Workload app has been developed - not clear for which platforms - but will be released post the October break!

We are confident that teachers already know that they are working above and beyond however we are also sure that it will provide them with some comfort to know that by adding the app to they’re workload routine they will get satisfaction from seeing it on they’re mobile device!

Unfortunately an app is not available for "lecturer members" and while one is planned it looks like the FE and HE sectors are again considered as an after thought to the level of support provision?

Considering the extensive issues in relation to job cuts, and terms and conditions in these sectors we think some equality for members in terms of such support provision should have been established.

Well, if the app is actually considered to provide ‘support’!

From the EIS eBulletin

Following an AGM resolution a "Workload app” has been developed which will facilitate the tracking of hours worked under the various elements of the teacher contract. The app will be launched post October break as part of the workload campaign. It is hoped that this tool, which supports a professional audit of the 35 hour week, will assist individuals and groups of teachers to resist excessive workload demands. (A similar app for lecturer members is planned.)
