Glasgow Clyde College Reject New Terms and Conditions Offer
20/06/2014 17:00Oh! Ballot 'Ell - as Glasgow Clyde College EIS Members reject Management's New Terms and Conditions
....... "The result of the ballot on terms and conditions was....
Accept: 118 (45% of votes cast)
Reject: 142 (55% of votes cast)
The turnout was 260 (69.3% of the membership)
This means that the offer has been rejected, and we will consequently remain under TUPE protection. ...."
Glasgow Clyde College EIS Members have informed The Correlate that they feel a sense of satisfaction and they hope this rejection sends a clear message to management that no matter the pressures they apply there will be resistance to any detriment to any group or individual EIS members in Glasgow Clyde College.
Those we spoke to expressed real concern over what they saw as drastic cuts in the SQA Unit Teaching hours that would have had a serious impact not only on part-time staff earnings, but increased workload, reduced direct support for students and the quality of provision.
Interestingly the other issue that is surfacing is the fact that an organisiation that purports to support education and training was removing the remission support from its own staff - to zero hours!
Members advised that this would mean a new untrained lecturer would be required to teach a full weeks work, with the associated preparation and assessment while looking to start Teacher Training! Talk about workloading!
As an aside they expressed real dissapointment and anger at the apparent lack of concern expressed by EIS Officials over TQFE remission and members would like to hear what the rejection means in relation to TQFE under TUPE!
Members are still concerned as to why EIS officials will still not share the Powerpoint presentation made to members attending the campus meetings!
Something to hide?
