Glasgow Clyde Pay Deal
30/04/2014 00:00EIS members in Glasgow Clyde College have voted to accept a revised pay offer of 3.03%. (Thursday 24 April)
The offer, backdated to August 1 2013, proved to create some divisions between campuses with Anniesland apparently showing the highest offer rejection figure by some margin!
Contributors from all the campuses are sharing a common concern that the pay offer ‘message’ at campus meetings might have been ‘flavoured differently’ while comments also reveal real concern at the time of notice of a new offer issued and campus branch meetings called (that same lunchtime) there was no time to fully consider the offer including any option to flat-rate.
It also appears that the EIS National Pay Claim for 2014-2015 which followed on Friday will seek to put the Basic Lecturer top scale point at £38,628 with an intention of seeking harmonisation across the sector!
If you consider the minor discrepancy in basic grade lecturers at the three merged campuses of Glasgow Clyde (was £35 now £36 (rough guide?) maybe there was an opportunity missed here?
For Glasgow Clyde this will require an salary increase of £2494 with Langside members requiring £2530. Or a mere 7% (rough guide?)
The Management offer - as given to members by EIS Branch Officials - was…
COLLEGE OFFER
Teaching Staff - Pay negotiations
Further to our discussion of this morning, we have considered the points that you raised in relation to both the ongoing terms and conditions negotiations and the pay award claim for 2013/14 and have considered the position again in the spirit of moving forward, addressing the aspirations of your members and our joint aspiration to ensure that Glasgow Clyde College is seen as a fair and reasonable employer. Therefore a revised offer is presented below which is part of an integrated but not interdependent 3 stage plan as discussed to progress through to the end of 2014/15.
The revised management offer for the pay award for 2013/14 is 3.03% on all current salaries back-dated to 1 August 2013.
Although this offer is not linked to further stages of this process, acceptance of this offer will allow us to establish a baseline teaching staffing budget which will inform the financial parameters for moving forward for the academic session 2014/15.
We are currently considering the items you identified as being crucial to further negotiation within the terms and conditions offer presented in March. We would propose to continue with these negotiations with an aspiration of concluding the negotiations on or before 28 May 2014
This was accompanied by an Indicative table based on campus salaries (top of scale)
We note with some amusement that this carries a ‘rough guide only’ warning!
(Maybe it was because of the rush to get it out for acceptance – and it is only a wee typo!)
Note: No Head of School Post in Langside
