Lecturers in no confidence votes

LECTURERS at two newly-merged Scottish colleges have passed votes of no confidence in their management.

The HeraldScotland Saturday 13 September 2014

It appears that a number of serious issues over terms and conditions, salaries, and what has been referred to as a shambolic management of enrolment, staffing and cancelation of classes.... into week 4 of the term…. has been enough for lecturers in Kelvin College and the Anniesland Campus of Glasgow Clyde College with the latter demonstrating what staff have referred to as everything becoming the "Cardonald Model" whether it functions or not!
Some staff are concerned that the major focus is on achieving National Bargaining at the whatever the cost, locally or regionally and find it difficult to accept that in Glasgow there has been an abject failure to achieve any semblance of harmonisation of salaries and or terms and conditions.
From a Clyde College communication it appears that the EIS from Langside and Cardonald Campuses are negotiating with management over options relating to terms and conditions with no reference to the EIS representation from the Anniesland Campus.
Job changes with new contracts for Heads of Department and Senior Lecturers are being "forced" through under pressure despite TUPE being in place.

The Correlate will be publishing more on this …
