Achieving More! Merging to the Dark Side?

Who said?  [in a college merger publication, January 2013]

"I think being a Principal [of a Further Education College] is a cross between being Albert Einstein, Mother Theresa, and Boudicca"

The Correlate wonders whether this individual studied the history of Boudica or the Canadian researchers’ discussion on the dark side of Mother Teresa.

The 'dark side' reference is somewhat ironic when, in the same publication, the individual also mentions that someone? [The Correlate would love to know who] leaves a Darth Vader novelty on their desk for them each Christmas!

History.net on Boudica ….

"....... She slaughtered a Roman army. She torched Londinium, leaving a charred layer almost half a meter thick that can still be traced under modern London. According to the Roman historian Cornelius Tacitus, her army killed as many as 70,000 civilians in Londinium, Verulamium and Camulodunum, rushing 'to cut throats, hang, burn, and crucify. ......"

"........... Boudica killed everyone she found when she reached Londinium. Dio described the savagery of her army."

Verulamium, the old capital of the Catuvellauni tribe lying northwest of Londinium (outside of present-day St. Albans), met a similar fate

Mother Teresa….

"......... A study conducted by Canadian researcher’s questions Mother Teresa’s views on the poor’s suffering, the dubious management of money by the Missionaries of Charity, and contends the humanitarian image of Mother Teresa is a media-orchestrated "myth"........"

“Given the parsimonious management of Mother Teresa's works, one may ask where the millions of dollars for the poorest of the poor have gone.”

Can we correlate the above images of Boudica and Mother Teresa to any FE College Principal and the actions in mergers?

Maybe one view might relate to the savage cuts in staffing, course places and local access provision?

As to the millions in merger funding…

Figures given to The Correlate suggest the Edinburgh College merger has cost £17.5m which is more than the £15m the Scottish Parliament set aside for the whole merger process!

What are the costs of a merger? Where does the money go?

Perhaps a breakdown of new senior management structures, the remits and the individual remuneration for each post would be welcomed - in public interest?

Do you have any figures? What is the new merger Senior Managment Structure? Let us know!

email comments etc to contributions@thecorrelate.net

Oh! We must not forget they also see themself as having the ability to emulate Albert Einstein!

A quote attributed to Einstein  ... “Imagination is more important than knowledge"
